Spring has sprung!

Just a few weeks ago it was snowing, and aside from some wilting daffodils there was very little growth to be seen in the Lodge garden.  As the flower beds had been totally stripped towards the end of last summer in order for manure to be deeply rotovated into the soil, I was beginning to wonder whether our efforts had been worthwhile.

I needn't have worried, as today I am happy to see the Pear tree is in full blossom and that Tulips, Primroses, Pansies and Bluebells are everywhere.  Foxglove spires are starting to show and the Sweet Williams are sprouting too.  The Lily-of-the-Valley have cream buds forming, all ready for my mother's birthday in May.  I noticed too that we even have some strawberry plants in flower!
